ABOUT HOME EDUCATION Home education is a legal alternative
to school education in South Australia. Families accept and take on the responsibility for educating their children outside of school. To enable this they apply for exemption from attending school. Families are required to prepare a comprehensive learning plan to suit their child's needs within the scope of the Australian Curriculum. Children learn within the family home, making use of community resources and amenities. The parents or caregivers are responsible for creating, planning, evaluating and recording the children's learning. Permission to home educate is reviewed annually. Home educating groups provide support, education and social opportunities. Download Information on Getting Started and We celebrate and support SA's Home Ed Friendly Professionals
